A Prayer from the Holston Foundation for New Appointments and Transitions
Gracious and Eternal God,
You who breathed life into creation and called each of us by name—
we thank You for Your faithful presence through every season of ministry.
As the winds of change blow across our churches, we give thanks that Your Spirit still leads, calling pastors and congregations into new chapters of service and discipleship.
For those pastors stepping into new appointments, grant peace in the unknown, courage in the unfolding, and steadfast assurance in Your love that anchors us through all things. May they feel surrounded by Your grace as they begin again.
For the churches receiving new leadership, may hearts and doors be open wide—ready to welcome, ready to grow, and ready to be transformed by the new expressions of Your love that walk through their doors.
For congregations saying goodbye to beloved pastors, remind us that Your mission moves beyond individuals and into the shared life of the body of Christ. In this sacred discomfort, stir our faith and renew our calling to be people of grace, hope, and holy purpose.
Shape us all—pastors, churches, and leaders—into a Church that bears witness to Your love in all times and places. May our ministries reflect welcome, renewal, and the ongoing story of Your mercy in our communities.
With trust in Your guidance and joy in our shared calling, we lift this prayer to You—
in the name of the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Amen.
